Colonel? This is Elizabeth. The store's been...something happened to it. I can't see any customers around, but it doesn't seem like there was a fight. It's just different and empty. All of my coworkers are missing, too.

I'm worried about the package we received yesterday. You know, the pet that started being mean and we had to put down. I can't find it at all. I hope nothing bad comes of this.

Colonel, please get back to me. I'm kind of worried.

(PCD clicks off)

[Maes' eyes widen before he grins ear-to-ear]

I got promoted over Roy? He never told me, the slippery bastard! I'm going to have to gloat about this for a while!

[He nods, getting a little more serious, studying her. He's used to 'you're dead' reactions, well, almost. This might or might not be one.]

Yes. Different people come from different times.

If... If... Lieutenant. If you're aware of something occuring to me, rest assured that I've been told. Inadvertently, and not with full details, but I've gathered enough information to put all the pieces together.

[Maes' shoulders slump in an exaggerated motion. He fumbles with something out of sight of the PCD, and then holds up a small album, the smile returning to his face.]

Of course I would! You know me too well. Now... would you like to see the pictures of our pie-making, or of the party I threw when she showed up so that everyone could meet her?

Proper procedure. I originally thought you were from my current present, which would then be your future, but as it turns out you're really from my past, or your present. Therefore, you're still a lieutenant colonel at this time.

(Sighs, but with a small smile on her face.)

But at the point you're from, I'm a Brigadier General. You should continue to address me with that rank, since it's what you know to be fact. Besides, how often do I get to gloat at Roy? Aside from every time I talk about my wife and daughter!

[Maes grins in triumph and opens up the album. He begins displaying pictures.]

Hooray for pie! These are from when we made apple pie! She's so adorable with just a bit of flour on her ear!

Since I serve Colonel Mustang, it is my best interest to keep him safe. This includes his ego. Unfortunately, this means you will be demoted...at least in word.
