Report 038 - [Accidental Video]

[The PCD suddenly flickers to life and shows part of the bottom of some cupboards, as well as Riza reaching to grab something from inside, her left hand pressed against the countertop to balance herself.  But when she pulls out the plate, the balance of her hold is all wrong and it slips from her marred hand.  She jumps back and out of view of the PCD, and a crash is heard just off screen.]

...Shit.

[There are a few moments of silence and then it can be assumed that she starts cleaning up the broken plate.]

[She looks away, embarrassed.]

...I'm useless.

[He sighs, gently moving his hand up and over her shoulder, tugging her against him.]

Say that again, and I'll fire you.

[She goes stiff in his hold, but doesn't pull away.]

Then fire me. This isn't Amestris, anyway.

[Well. He hadn't expected her to say that. That wasn't something he ever thought he'd hear from her - and why should it be? They had a promise, and neither of them would dare break that, not in Amestris, not in Adstringendum.]

No.

[He muttered the word softly, pressing a kiss to her cheek and moving his plate from his lap to the sofa beside him, now-free arm moving to slip around her waist.]

Riza...

[She still didn't look at him, but felt her lower lip tremble, betraying her coldness. Biting down on it, she willed herself not to cry over a stupid finger.]

I'm fine.

[But her voice shook just slightly.]

[Another sigh. As unused to this behaviour as he was it seemed natural to react as he did. Gently, his arms curled tighter around him, and he pulled her close against him, tucking her head under his chin without another word.]

[And she kept quiet, letting him hold her.]
